Acuseeds - Vaccaria Seeds Ear Acupressure
Acuseeds, or more specifically Vaccaria Seeds Ear Acupressure, at al Covo, in Southampton offers you a relatively underused Traditional Chinese Medicine technique, praised by Vogue, Selfridges and Dragon's Den. Acuseeds are used for relieving many conditions such as acute and chronic pain, stress, PTSD, nausea, migraines, headaches, substance abuse, uneasy sleep, infertility, reproductive and nervous system disorders (eg infertility and the menopause), hormonal imbalance, mood swings, hot flushes, anxiety, self-doubt, weight issues and mental imbalances. The acupressure points also support your immunity, focus, energy levels, and digestion (eg bloating).
Following a consultation relating to which conditions you have, Steve presses and massages the seeds onto the appropriate acupressure ear points. Steve specifically recommends the NADA protocol, which uses five system points: shen men, sympathetic, kidney, liver, and lung point. It's a popular protocol and can be effective in a group setting for healing for 30-40 minutes. The endocrine system is another popular placement for ear seeds, used often in gynaecology and in relation to the skin too if you have hormonal skin issues. You can sync these up with your monthly cycle to get the most from their benefits. However Steve will apply his knowledge and experience to optimise the acupressure points to your particular issues.
Seeds can be left for 5 days for maximum effect. They look like very chic piercings.
Ear seeds are a form of auriculotherapy, which is the stimulation of specific points of the ear to support physical and emotional health concerns. They are a needle-free form of acupuncture that have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for thousands of years. TCM teaches that the ear is a microsystem of the whole body, where certain points on the ear correspond to different organs or body parts. Energy pathways (or ‘qi’ or vital life energy) pass through the ear and ear seeds stimulate specific points which send an abundant flow of energy to the related organ or area that needs attention. Think of it like reflexology, but for the ears instead of feet.
Ear seeds also create continual, gentle pressure on nerve impulses in the ear which send messages to the brain that certain organs or systems need support. The brain will then send signals and chemicals to the rest of the body to support whatever ailments you’re experiencing, releasing endorphins into the bloodstream, relaxing the nervous system, and naturally soothing pain and discomfort.
Three to five times per day, gently rub your ear seeds in a circular motion to stimulate the parts of your body they’re intended to help. Don’t press down too hard, to the point that you hurt yourself, but just enough that you can feel the stimulation.Your ear seeds will lose their stickiness with time, especially as they’re exposed to the moisture in the air and water when you shower. You should remove them after a few days if they start to irritate your skin.
